Oh Julie ... you disappoint me Sad You've scoffed all that cake and drunk the last of the Pernod!! No wonder you can't remember. Well, I hope you have thought long and hard about your new year resolutions!

I think Jean must still be 'in conference' with the eskimo along with the contents of Bernard's barrel! I'm pretty sure her Christmas lights will have gone out by now RollEyes

Off to get my scissors sharpened ... much work to be done Tongue

ThumbDown ThumbDown ThumbDown Not the scissors! I know someone who needs a new year resolution around scissors!

The reason that MY cake was not at the party and the fact that I did not come for the free pernod is that I was not there! Confused Confused

Who was supposed to issue the arrangements? RollEyes RollEyes

Never mind the party goes on! Where to next? I could do with some heat in my bones that doesn't come from a wheatie bag!Cool Cool

It's your own fault Eleanor, if you hadn't been so intent on following those Scottish pipers just to get a glimpse under their kilts you would have been at the party! Goodness knows where you got to!RollEyes RollEyes

And how did you manage to get hold of the St Bernard's whisky barrel? Crawling around under the hedge like that.LOL LOL

Oh Doreen - it was dreadful seeing Eleanor scrabbling around like that on all fours under the hedge - she said she was taking some privet cuttings for her front garden when I questioned her, but she's never let on as to whether she DID manage to see up the kilts, has she? If she did, let's hope she took loads of photos for Julie, who is making an in depth study of tartan.

Ha!! Tongue Tongue Eleanor ... now you've been caught red-handed with my scissors. No wonder they're all blunt and in need of sharpening!! Cuttings for your front garden indeed ... explain the tartan threads hanging from the blades!!! I hope the photos from under the kilts are worth it! Blushing

Oh lordy lordy - what on EARTH has she been attempting to cut off under the kilts?! One with scissors is dreadful, two is catastrophic, especially when one of 'em is inclined to crawl under hedges pearing at the private parts of men in skirtsBlushing

Now a Valentines night "do" is a wonderful idea, Anne. We expect you to participate fully with all preparations etc. Hope this is OK? Come on everyone - where are you? Have we got enough time to get ready for the 14th Feb? I always worry when there's so little time, as Doreen's make up takes such an age to slap on. It's worse since she had all the botox and the right side of her nose collapsed- need I say more? I'm sure she will come up with a very novel wayof filling the gaps though - she always comes up trumps!!

Well Jean, you know I`m up for a good night out, but Lyn is bound to have some scissors with her, and Eleanor is still peeved that she missed the party last time. It`s no good telling her it was her own fault, for gathering cuttings for her privet hedge. A likely story!

I think we should be OK for the 14th. Shall we have a "themed clothes" evening? It`s just I already have an outfit in mind. I`ll give you a tiny clue - think edible love hearts and chocolate flowers.

Can we trust Doreen to be ready in time? As you say, it takes her ages to get ready, but maybe she might just be punctual for once. And what about Julie? Who is going to keep her under control? She`s a nightmare with her penchant for climbing every lamp post in sight. Let`s face it, she nearly got us all arrested in Blackpool.

Once we know the arrangements I think we should warn Lyn to keep her scossors locked away. Eleanor should be relatively reasonably well-behaved as long as there aren`t any Scotsmen in sight - she gets a real rush of blood to the head if she spots one. Remember her weaving her way along the Golden Mile singing "Flower of Scotland" at the top of her voice and brandishing a whisky bottle? No shame.

Oooh, I do love a night out!!

Hi, Valentines All,
The sartorial elegance of chocolate hearts and flowers (roses of course) will be ideal. That would mean that Lyn's scissors would also be made of chocolate. If we all stand together in a circle around the wheeled commode it should stop any sparks from the braziers I have hired getting to our unmentionables. Tassles should be red and bejewelled. Length not specified.
Little red boots are derigour and black Widdies. NO long johns please. They would frighten the natives who would have the Scottish police and firemen out in droves. As a Valentine's celebration Vodka the only tipple, Vanilla ice cream, Vol au Vents and Viennese whirls as canapes, Veggies will have to avoid the Veal escallopes. Sorry forgot to mention the Venue. Could be Vauxhall or Victoria in London, Villa park Birmingham, or anywhere else with a "V". A bit late for Venice and too far from stringfellows" Anything I've forgotten?
Haven't found a place for the knitting yet, red and black scarves may complement the RED feather boas. More help needed to locate red polyfilla. It sounds as though a ton should be enough but haven't looked in the mirror recently. Places on the Valentine express are limited to the first thousand so please book early otherwise it may be Virtually Viable to miss this Valuable experience. Anne

Ooooh Anne, I LOVE some of your ideas. I have to admit that the very thought of the braziers sending sparks up me unmentionables fills me with dread, but I suppose Lyn could snip off any burnt bits with the choccy scissors. The biggest problem I can forsee is Dor's face melting in the heat. Have you seen the amount of stuff she trowels on?

As for Kathleen - oh deary me! Edible love hearts and chocolate flowers?!?!?! For goodness sake woman, all we need is a prevailing wind and a pack of stray dogs picking up the scent and you'll have all the bits on your bits snapped off before you can say "Hydroxychloroquine". I so wanted to leave the tarpaulin behind this time out, but we really will need it to fling round you when you modesty has gorn.

I like the idea of going somewhere beginning with the letter "V" - Venice sounds brilliant - there is a lot of water. My only concern is that Julie could be climbing up all sorts of things and it worries me a tad.

Look forward to hearing from you all

Hi,
Lyn would have to be very quick to act before the Choccy melts!! Perhaps Julie could knit a spiderman type net ( I hear her needles go like the clappers ) so that rescue would be in the nick of time. I had dream last night of Vivariums with Vermillion wrapped Velvet Vipers that could keep that (........snake) in captiVity. It's a toss up between Venice and Vancouver but we would have to have Visas and that might not be possible if there are outstanding warrants from Blackpool. Vauxhall here we come!! Anne

Ooooh!!! It HAS to be Venice - think of all those handsome gondoliers!!!! Doreen will be singing "O Sole Mio" with the best of them; Julie will be climbing up the Bridge of Sighs, and heaven only knows what Eleanor & Lyn will get up to.

Jean, you needn`t bring the tarpaulin - if it`s Venice I`ll have another outfit in mind, one much more suited to travelling languidly along the Grand Canal. I may just leave the snake behind, and the St. Bernard, as they are still suffering trauma from Blackpool, when you tried to throw them off the Big Dipper.

Anne - have you seen Julie`s knitting? She was supposed to knit a safety net for Blackpool - that`s why we all ended up in A & E.

Ciao!!

Hi Kathleen,
How could I resist the idea of gondoliers!!! No I haven't seen the knitting. I would be delighted if the Viper was left behind, we don't want the rspca after us. The St. Bernard would want to go through the tunnel rather than fly ....... no time to diVert. How many can squeeze on to a gondola? We could have a duet with Doreen and the cornetto man., that MIGHT reduce the overheads for hiring. Hope the oufit will still be appropriate colours. Didn't realise you had all been to A&E. Should we take trained first aiders in case we can't speak proper Italian? it might be a local dialect!! Oh glory Doreen may read that as a DUVET. Anne (getting excited about the trip) OOOOPPPPSSSSS It will be downhill from here

Agree entirely we should go to Venice, I just love cornettos!
I should have time to get ready by Feb 14th. I have ordered some extra strong polyfilla, once that is in place the make up should glide on easily. I'll bring some for Jean and Kathleen to try, looks to me like they could do with it.
I've got a neon pink Duvet with gold tassels ,those gondolas can be cold you know! LOL LOL
